Climate Change
Climate change is a defining challenge for the 21st century and the construction materials supply sector as a whole. HKCMA provides the professional platform for knowledge sharing promotes best practice and encourages the setting up of standards across associated sectors to minimise carbon emissions. We actively encourage and support member companies to develop comprehensive climate and energy strategies across three key areas:
1. Improving energy efficiency;
2. Reducing emissions; and,
3. Promoting responsible climate and energy policies.
At individual level, HKCMA member companies are working hard to reduce their climate change impacts by pushing towards a low carbon economy, reducing waste, improving energy efficiency and other carbon reduction initiatives. The proportion of industry sites with certified environmental management systems has continued to increase and emissions to air by the industry have declined substantially over the past decade.
